SOAR Academy has become a huge part of the services we offer. SOAR is a recognized North Carolina private school under the NC Department of Non-Public Schools, serving Winston-Salem and the surrounding areas. We provide a supportive learning environment for students who may not thrive in a traditional classroom setting, meeting each student where they are academically, socially, and emotionally. Through individualized support, flexible instruction, and a focus on building confidence and independence, we help students develop the tools they need for success both in school and beyond.

Here are a few things you will find about our program here at SOAR Academy:
- Smaller sizes on instructional groups
Academic intervention in the core subjects (English/Language Arts, Orton Gillingham intervention, Math, Science, and Social Studies) are taught in ability groups with a teacher-student ratio of 1:4.
We believe this will allow our students to get the most out of each day’s instruction by allowing them more individualized attention. - Peer Interaction
Homerooms are grouped by ages. We typically have groups for K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th grade.
For other classes and activities, students are in larger groups for peer social interaction. This includes classes like music, art, P.E., life skills, etc. - Prescriptive Curriculum
We adapt instruction and support to meet the individual needs of each student.
We believe the best way to set up our students for success is to meet them where they are. All students are different and, therefore, we tailor learning experiences to support each student’s strengths, challenges, and goals. - Movement and Life Skills every day
We have P.E. or recess each day, as well as movement incorporated into our other instruction throughout the day.
We believe education is more than the classroom, and our goal is to help our students in both academics and beyond. Our mission is to empower students with the skills and confidence to advocate for themselves, overcome obstacles, and thrive long after they leave our classrooms.

what to expect from the process

02. Assess Needs/Wants
We will then respond to you regarding our services and availability options for an informational call, along with a request of documentation of the student’s needs (IEPs, assessments, etc.) for review.
