Tutoring is the where SOAR started, and we are so proud of this service that we offer. Our tutoring students are met where they are and then supported and taught to move forward. All of our tutoring sessions are 1:1 instruction (unless requested and scheduled by request) so we can help your student find the best success.
Here are a few important things to know about SOAR Tutoring:
- We provide individualized instruction.
Our service is based on the needs of the student and family of the student. We provide assessments on top of discussion with the student/family in order to best determine the plan of action. Every student’s tutoring plan will be different, and we are here to best help you find what you are looking for. - We value consistency.
Once assessments are completed, we will provide a recommended plan of action based on your child’s individual needs. We require all tutoring families to sign a contract, which outlines scheduling, attendance, and cancellation policies. This helps establish clear expectations for both families and SOAR while ensuring your child has a consistent, reserved time with their tutor. Regular attendance allows our tutors to build on previous lessons and provide the continuity students need to make meaningful progress. - We provide a variety of subjects.
Sessions range from highly structured Orton Gillingham-based instruction for dyslexics (all grades/skills levels), to higher-level math. We are here to provide what you need, and we have several tutors who specialize in a variety of areas. We will connect you with a tutor that matches your need. - We provide a dedicated learning environment.
Tutoring sessions take place at our SOAR classroom (5280 Hampton Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012), where students and tutors have access to instructional materials and resources that support individualized learning. Our dedicated tutoring space allows us to provide a consistent, focused environment for each student.
Virtual tutoring may occasionally be available on a case-by-case basis, depending on the student’s needs and tutor availability. - Sessions vary in length.
Typically sessions are 60 minutes. If a student needs a shorter time, we can accommodate a 40-50 minute session. Middle and high schoolers often prefer 90-120 minute sessions.
what to expect from the process
01. Inquire
For our tutoring services, the first step is a parent inquiry. This may be via call, email, or our contact form. **Please note: we will do an initial call before scheduling a tour of our facilities.
02. Assess Needs/Wants
We will then respond to you regarding our services and availability options for an informational call, along with a request of documentation of the student’s needs (IEPs, assessments, etc.) for review. After a call, we will proceed with next steps which may include a site visit or an informal assessment.
03. Enroll
If you decide SOAR is the best fit for your child, you will then go through enrollment process including paying the $100 nonrefundable enrollment fee and completing an enrollment packet.
04. Begin Services
You will then be contacted to officially set up services at the date/time that works best for your family, sign your contract, and your child will begin learning with us at SOAR!

Payment Methods Accepted: Cash, Checks, Credit Cards, Automatic Monthly Withdrawals set for the duration of your contract
Invoices are sent out on the 15th of the month prior to sessions and are due on the last day of the month prior to sessions. Tutoring services will not be provided if there is an outstanding balance.
